Case 32: A 34-Year-Old Male With HIV And Fever

A 34 old male with a history of HIV is brought in by his family for recent change in mental status. Over the past five days he has started eating less and has been unable to leave the bed.



You begin your ABCDE assessment and notice that his airway is clear and his breathing is unlabored with normal breath sounds.



His pulses are strong with normal capillary refill.



You now assess Disability; he is alert on the AVPU scale and moving all of his extremities. You check the patient’s pupils, they are normal size and equal.
