You receive a call that a pregnant patient is being transported to your clinic. She is a 23-year-old woman who was struck by a car while crossing a busy street. She is 6 months pregnant.
She has an obvious deformity of the right lower extremity and her blood pressure is low, with an elevated heart rate.
When the patient arrives she looks distressed. Her skin is pale, cool to touch and damp. The paramedics tell you her blood pressure is now lower and her heart rate is more elevated. She has a loose bloody dressing around her right leg. You begin your assessment.
