Case 4: A 50-Year-Old Man With Slow Breathing

A 50 year old man is brought in to your clinic by a taxi driver who found him slumped on the side of the road. The man is unresponsive, but groans when he is lifted onto the exam bed. The taxi driver did not observe any signs of trauma or injury.

You begin your assessment by checking the man’s Airway. He has few teeth, but nothing blocking his Airway. His Breathing is shallow and at one time he stops breathing for 30 seconds. At times it sounds like he is snoring. You try and wake him up by rubbing his chest with your knuckles but he only groans.
