Case 25: A 34-Year-Old Male With Diarrhea

A 34 year-old man comes into your clinic. He is sweating, moaning, and asking for help. He says that his wife, 4 year old daughter, and neighbors are all sick with vomiting and diarrhoea. You begin to assess the patient, beginning with the ABCDE assessment.

His Airway is open and he is speaking in full sentences. He has bilateral breath sounds with no difficulty in Breathing.


On your Circulation exam, he has a fast heart rate, poor capillary refill and dry mucous membranes.
