Case 18: A 24-Year-Old Male With Fast Breathing

You are working at a rural emergency clinic when a 24 year old man presents with nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

He is confused. His mother tells you that he has been getting worse over the last four days.

As you are talking with the mother, you notice that he is breathing faster than you would expect and that his lips are dry. He does not have a fever.
